Have you upgraded to QuickTime version 4.1.1 or 4.1.2? |
There is a known incompatibility between the movies in earlier Companions (those shipped before June 2000) and QuickTime v4.1.1/4.1.2 that prevents the movies displaying in the Task palette. |
We have created an installer that fixes these movies.
| 1 |
Download the installer archive from our ftp site.
Download the Companion Updater (268 K Stuffit archive) |
| 2 |
Unstuff the installer using Stuffit Expander (if it isn't unstuffed automatically by your internet software). |
Note: To unstuff this file you may need the free Stuffit Expander software for Mac, Windows and Linux. |
| 3 |
Run the installer. |
| 4 |
Read the Read Me page then click the Continue button. |
| 5 |
Click the checkbox "on" to either fix the DV Companion movies or fix the Media 100 Companion movies, then click the Install button. |
IMPORTANT: AppleScript must be active on your Macintosh for this installer to work. The modifications will take approximately 15 minutes (so it may be a good time to give yourself a well-earned coffee break), and during the modification process it may appear that there is no movement in the progress bar. If the modification appears to happen quickly (less than 10 seconds) then it is likely that the AppleScript extension is not active on your Macintosh and no modifications have been made to the movies. |
Tip: To ensure that AppleScript is active on your Macintosh, open the Extensions Manager Control Panel. From the Selected Set pop-up menu choose Mac OS All, then click the Restart button. After your Macintosh has restarted, run the Companion QuickTime movie fixer application again. |

Have you reinstalled or upgraded your Mac OS software? |
This symptom may be the result of the Task palette having insufficient RAM to run the movies properly. When the Companion is installed it increases the RAM allocated to this System Extension, but if the Mac OS is reinstalled it will revert back to the lower RAM allocation. |
| 1 |
Insert the Companion CD-ROM and run the installer. |
| 2 |
Choose Custom install from the pop-up menu. |
| 3 |
Click the Install Support software checkbox "on", then click the Install button. |
| |
